Czechia to Costa Rica

Your ordinary Czech passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date you plan to leave Costa Rica. A national identity card and a temporary passport are not accepted for entry; a driving licence can be used only when travelling by car as proof alongside vehicle documents.

Costa Rican officials may ask you to show proof of onward or return travel, for example a return ticket. Have that document ready for check‑in or border control.

Costa Rican border authorities may ask you to show sufficient funds for your stay; the guidance states USD 100 for each month of intended stay. Be ready to show bank statements, cash or cards that demonstrate this amount.

No arrival registration or entry card is required for tourists arriving in Costa Rica on this route. You do not need to complete an arrival form on entry.

No vaccination is universally mandatory for Czech tourists. However, vaccination against yellow fever is required if you are arriving from a country where yellow fever occurs; also hepatitis A and B and yellow fever are recommended for travel, especially when visiting rainforest areas.

Travel insurance is recommended but it is not a condition of entry. Note that private hospitals usually require acceptable international health insurance or full cash payment before treatment; public hospitals provide emergency care but may require subsequent payment or proof of insurance.

If you need consular assistance, the nearest Costa Rican embassy for Czechs is located in Colombia. That embassy can help with consular matters but is not an application route for tourist entry permissions.

Tourist permission obtained on arrival does not permit paid work or study in Costa Rica. If you need a different purpose of stay, visas for longer or non‑tourist purposes are issued by Costa Rican embassies and consulates abroad.

If you require hospitalisation, private hospitals usually ask for a financial deposit; the guidance gives an approximate example of about USD 1,000 though private hospitals’ exact requirements vary. Carry proof of funds or insurance.

Costa Rican authorities may check entry and exit stamps; missing entry or exit stamps can lead to fines or deportation according to the official guidance. Keep your passport presented for stamping on arrival and departure.

Minors travelling as tourists need no additional consent letters or notarised permissions beyond the accepted travel documents. Children under 18 simply travel on the accepted documents (passport or, for road travel, driving licence where relevant).

Costa Rica requires yellow fever vaccination only when arriving from a country with yellow fever transmission; if that applies to your itinerary, carry an International Certificate of Vaccination. For other routine vaccines and recommendations, follow your healthcare provider’s advice.
