Hungary to Equatorial Guinea

The e-visa application is submitted and paid for online at https://equatorialguinea-evisa.com/ and the decision is sent to you by email. Do not plan to obtain a visa on arrival because an e-visa must be held before departure.

You must travel on a passport; national ID cards, driving licences and temporary passports are not accepted for entry. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date you enter Equatorial Guinea.

You will not be asked to show bank statements or other proof of funds on entry; the official guidance states no proof of funds is required on this route. Still carry some cash and means to pay because cards and ATMs are limited.

You must present proof of yellow fever vaccination before entry; the vaccination is accepted only if given at least 10 days before travel. A polio booster is recommended and it is advisable to have it recorded in the yellow booklet.

Travel insurance is recommended as essential for a smooth trip, but it is not stated as a condition of entry.

If you are under 18, you need only the accepted travel documents (an ordinary passport meeting the validity rule). No extra parental consent letters or notarised paperwork are required for minors under this route.

There is an online e-visa route; at the end of a successful application you receive an electronic visa decision by email. Do not expect to receive a visa sticker on arrival — the permission is an e-visa issued in advance.

You apply and pay for the e-visa online at https://equatorialguinea-evisa.com/ and the decision is emailed to you. The official embassy pages in Europe may not show the e-visa option, so use the e-visa portal for applications.

There is no arrival registration or entry card to complete on arrival according to the guidance for this route.

Authorities have refused entry where a traveller held a valid visa in an expired passport or where passports were not properly stamped. Make sure your passport is valid and keep any old passports that may contain previous visas.

For domestic overland travel, local police have sometimes required prior travel authorisation; check with your hotel before leaving Malabo or Bata because authorities may impose permission unexpectedly for internal travel.

For in-person embassy applications (if you choose that route) the embassies in Berlin or Brussels list documents such as passport valid six months beyond departure, completed form, photos, return ticket, proof of accommodation, and international vaccination card. Check the embassy first because their sites are not always updated and procedures can vary.
