Do I need a visa for Guatemala?
Polish citizens do not need a visa to enter Guatemala for tourism stays of up to 90 days; travel is permitted without a visa. This tourist entry does not allow paid work or study.
Which documents do I need?
You must travel on a passport or a temporary passport. The Polish national identity card and a driving licence are not accepted for entry to Guatemala. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Guatemala.
Are vaccinations required for Guatemala?
No vaccinations are required for this route. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required only if you arrive from, or transit for more than 12 hours through, a country where yellow fever occurs; that certificate applies to travellers over 12 months of age.
How long can I stay, and can I extend it?
A single tourist entry permits a stay of up to 90 days. Guatemala is part of the CA-4 region, so the 90-day allowance is counted from entry into any CA-4 country (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras or Nicaragua). To extend your stay you must apply at the Guatemalan Migration Institute in Guatemala City; an extension can be granted for an additional 30 days. If you exceed the permitted stay you will have to pay a fine before departure.
Can children travel on this route?
Children travelling with one parent or a third party must have a notarised consent from the other parent or guardians. A notarised letter of parental consent is required for minors entering Guatemala.
Do I need travel insurance?
Travel medical insurance is recommended but not a condition of entry. Medical visits and hospital treatment in Guatemala are paid services.
