Poland to Slovakia

You may use either your Polish passport, a Polish national identity card, or a Polish temporary passport to enter Slovakia; a driving licence is not accepted as a travel document.

You will not be required to show proof of funds such as cash, bank statements or a specific minimum balance on this route.

Slovakia does not require any arrival registration or entry card for tourists on this route.

You should carry the document you will travel on (passport, ID card or temporary passport). Border or airline staff will expect to see one of those; airlines may check a travel document at check‑in.

If you plan mountain hiking or alpine trips, Slovak rules require you to report your route and expected return time to authorities or mountain rescue services.

Children and minors need the same accepted travel documents as adults: a passport, temporary passport or a national identity card. No additional parental consent paperwork is required for under‑18s on this route.

If you have problems abroad you may contact the Polish diplomatic or consular mission in Slovakia for consular assistance; the embassy/consulate contact details are available from Polish government sources.

You are not required to purchase travel insurance to enter Slovakia, but private insurance covering rescue, medical treatment and medical transport is recommended, since the EHIC has limits.

For rescue, accidents and hospital treatment you should carry EHIC to access public care; EHIC does not replace private insurance covering transport to Poland or private‑clinic costs.

No proof of onward travel or return ticket is required by the entry rules provided for this route.

If your passport is accepted (passport, temporary passport or national ID) you will be allowed to travel; a damaged or unreadable travel document may be refused by airline or border staff.
